About Gurbat Society

Gurbat Society was founded with the vision of supporting Afghan Americans in the United States, especially those in the DMV area. Our primary goal is to empower individuals by promoting cultural heritage, providing educational opportunities, fostering economic development, and advocating for social inclusion. We operate under the principles of non-political, non-affiliated community support, in compliance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, ensuring we remain a public benefit organization.

We believe in community-driven initiatives that promote equality, access to resources, and social cohesion. Our organization is guided by a Leadership Council, with elected members ensuring democratic processes, accountability, and effective decision-making. Through collaborative programs, the Gurbat Society connects Afghan Americans and provides platforms for cultural exchange, education, and community engagement.

We strive to maintain the highest ethical standards, encouraging active participation, volunteerism, and open communication within our community. Our structure supports transparency, with easily accessible financial documents and operational reports available for public scrutiny.
